Product Description
Raku pottery is a traditional Japanese technique that has been adapted into Western arts. Its vivid colors are a result of a process called reduction oxidation - after the pottery piece is hand thrown it is placed in a red hot kiln along with metal ores, timber, and other natural materials at the artists preference that flash burn and are then rapidly cooled. This results in a crackle metallic type finish with vivid colors of red, blue and green.
Each piece is made by hand and due to the nature of the process, the color and swirl patterns are unpredictable and never the same.
